El Salvador has initiated a comprehensive Bitcoin training program aimed at educating 80,000 public servants. This initiative is part of the country’s broader strategy to integrate Bitcoin into its economy and strengthen crypto-literacy among government employees.

Spearheaded by Stacy Herbert, Director of the Bitcoin Office, the program includes the development of a specialized Bitcoin Module for the Escuela Superior de Innovación en la Administración Pública (ESIAP). This educational effort is expected to significantly elevate the understanding of Bitcoin among El Salvador’s civil servants, aligning with the nation’s goal of becoming a global hub for Bitcoin innovation.

In addition to training public servants, El Salvador has embedded Bitcoin education into its school curriculum. Since 2022, the government’s ‘My First Bitcoin’ project has provided a ten-week Bitcoin course to over 35,000 students, covering essential topics like Bitcoin nodes, double-spending prevention, and Bitcoin halvings.

Strategic Investments and Future Plans

The country’s commitment to Bitcoin extends beyond education. Recently, a $1.6 billion investment from Turkey’s Yilport Holding was announced to modernize El Salvador’s seaports, supporting the ambitious Bitcoin City project. President Nayib Bukele continues to advocate for Bitcoin, with plans to fund the city through government-issued Bitcoin bonds.

El Salvador’s administration also employs a dollar-cost-averaging (DCA) strategy to accumulate Bitcoin, holding approximately 5,848 BTC, valued at around $348 million. The country is exploring the use of Bitcoin for international trade settlements, aiming to bypass traditional banking systems and strengthen economic ties.

This initiative underscores the country’s dedication to positioning itself as a leader in the global cryptocurrency landscape, leveraging Bitcoin for both educational and economic advancements.
